One of the modern problems of the state of the environment is the problem of soil pollution with heavy metals. This problem is especially acute in urban areas, where a large number of pollution sources are located. Due to their high toxicity and biochemical activity, heavy metals pose a significant danger both to the human body and to the natural environment as a whole. The article describes the results of geochemical analysis of the content of heavy metals in the soil of the city of Astrakhan. The studies were carried out in 2020 and the purpose of the work was to obtain new information about the content of the main soil pollutant elements belonging to the group of heavy metals. In the course of the work, environmental research methods were involved, which made it possible to determine the indicators of exceeding the maximum permissible concentration of heavy metals in the soil cover of the city of Astrakhan and to identify the main sources of pollution.
Key words: soil cover, heavy metals, soil, Astrakhan, concentration, pollution, accumulation, anthropogenic impact
