Taimyr is the largest peninsula in Russia and at the same time the northernmost point of the entire Eurasian continent. The entire territory of the Taimyr Peninsula is located beyond the Arctic Circle, on the glaciated edge of the Yenisei River. The peninsula is connected to the outside world only through two modes of transport: aviation and maritime transportation. The peninsula is covered with tundra and except for the southern part. One of the environmental problems threatening Taimyr is the discovery of new oil and gas fields on the peninsula. Currently, Taimyr is considered one of the most promising areas for future oil and gas production.
