The article pays special attention to the characteristics of the reservoir properties of the sediments of the preflank framing of the Caspian region, taking into account their distribution. The main factors of their formation are considered, which include tectonic, lithological and hydrogeochemical. The purpose of this work is to forecast reservoirs in the Paleozoic sediments of the Caspian region. The lithologicalfacies features of the Silurian-Artinskian deposits are analyzed taking into account their catagenetic transformation in the Paleozoic time. Considerable attention is paid to the formation of fracturing and porosity of deposits of the Paleozoic age of rocks to assess the conditions for the formation of zones of distribution of reservoirs with the identification of the most promising areas. Attention is paid to the description of the organic remains of the organic world, characteristic of the main stages of historical development. In the article, on the basis of a complex 9 lithologicalfacies analysis in the Paleozoic sediments of the Caspian region, data were obtained taking into account the earlier generalizations on the regularities of the formation of oil and gas content and postsedimentation transformations of reservoirs in the subsalt Upper Paleozoic sediments of the side and nearside zones of the Caspian basin. This made it possible to assess the lithogenetic zoning of the formation of reservoirs and formation fluids in the section and over the area of the considered territory.
Key words: Upper Paleozoic deposits, Caspian region, reservoir, organic world, fracturing, porosity, Silurian-Artinskian deposits, stages of catagenesis
