In the Eastern Orenburg region there is a shortage of water resources, especially water of drinking quality. It is possible to solve the problem of shortage of drinking water quality by introducing modern technologies to replenish groundwater reserves in the region. Groundwater is more protected from pollution than surface sources of drinking water, such as reservoirs. Irrational use and man-made load lead to depletion and deterioration of water quality. One of the ways to solve this problem may be to replenish groundwater reserves at the expense of existing reservoirs located in the vicinity of reservoirs. In Russia, artificial replenishment of underground water reserves has been practiced since the end of the XIX century - these are the cities of Arzamas, Simferopol, etc. In European countries with a shortage of underground water, thanks to this technology, technologists get up to 30-50 % of drinking water quality.
Key words: environment, water intakes, reservoirs, replenishment of underground water reserves, accumulation of water runoff, alluvial water, water supply, protection of natural waters, reservoirs, technologies for replenishment of underground water reserves
