The article presents the geological features of the structure and allocation of lithologically screened traps, basing its information on an analysis and on empirical data synthesis. It also contains a brief assessment of seismic data, electrical data and an AVO analysis of potential sites. Other sources of information include those accruing from geographical information systems (GIS) and from drilling results on the lithologically screened traps. At this stage, the document shifts its orientation to historical data. It notes that the structural elements in the southwest Caspian basin were formed during the Epi-Hercynian period. The long-break sedimentation following the final phase of the Hercynian period led to the formation of Triassic denudation. Subsequently, the critique assumes a more geological-based orientation, saying that a system of local shafts, measuring from 60 m in length (the Karakul) to 140 km in length (the Dzhakuevsky), had crumpled into flysch-molasse sediment folds in the Lower Permian era. The shafts have amplitudes ranging from 1000-1500 m and include erosive and tectonic depressions having ancient relief junction zones. The latter have been dampened by a red continental complex of Upper molasses deposits. Separately, the paper says the Tinaksko-Dzhakuevskoy area comprises Slabovskholmlennym paleo valley topography with height differences of from 50-60 m. According to the blueprint, its dominant stretch is on almost the same latitude as the flysch-molasse sediment folds from the aforementioned Lower Permian era.
