The article discusses the acquisition and management of federal funds for cartographic and geodesic data programs, with consideration given to certain problems and solutions that are related to upgrading the programs’ ongoing stock base. The paper then reflects on the need to use maps and survey data in accordance with the requirements of a modern economy. In this regard, a number of solutions are proposed to mitigate if not obviate the unrestricted application of cartographic products by the consumer base. The critique notes that the economy at large, and the industrial sector in particular, often relate to cartographic and geodesic materials as essential tools for their continued functioning. Maps and plans, for instance, are integral mechanisms that may cover urban planning, water, subsoil and forests. Accurate map information also stands at the heart of state real estate registry. Consequently, the blueprint suggests that relevant legislation is needed in the fields of cartographic and geodetic information, covering compliance with regulatory, legal and technical issues. These regulations would deal with various types of maps and also might be used to provide recommendations for potential application in legal document planning activities.
