In specialized disciplines we learn about the development of geology as a science, and outstanding geologists, dating back to the ancient centuries. There are many points of view of researchers of ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and India, but very little information about ancient researchers of geology of ancient China. China is one of the ancient civilizations, and therefore has achieved many achievements in the field of science, including geology. Let's make up for the lack of information and introduce Russian readers to China's outstanding ancient and modern geologists and their contribution to Earth science. Ancient China has accumulated a large amount of rich geological knowledge in the process of observing material movement in nature, the understanding and theories of various scientific positions, such as the universe and the origin of life on Earth, have been born. Geologists of ancient China have put forward many advanced theories before European scientists, despite the fact that they were in isolated scientific and technological conditions. For historical reasons, China from 1840 to 1949 was a semi-feudal and semi-colonial society, incapable of great discoveries and victories. This circumstance caused China to lag behind Europe and prevented civilized Europeans from understanding ancient Chinese scientific thoughts. In China, many great projects were carried out, for example, the construction of the Great Wall of China required knowledge not only in construction, but also fundamental geological knowledge.
