In many exploration areas of Mangyshlak, deep wells have uncovered marine gray sediments of late Paleozoic age. The article gives a detailed description of the material composition of deposits, the nature and degree of their secondary transformations, dislocation. Data on paleontological definitions of age of rocks are given. The conducted researches testify that the upper Permian deposits of Mangyshlak are a part of the folded base of the young Turan platform, have undergone significant post-sedimentary transformations corresponding, as a rule, to the stages of deep metagenesis and green shale metamorphism.
