Design, construction and operation of marine hydrotechnical structures are made with ensuring the strength and stability of structures, taking into account the most unfavorable effect of wave erosion. The dynamics of erosion of soil under the influence of waves is determined by the shape and size of the structure in terms of and height, the relationship between the dimensions of the structure, the parameters of the waves and the depth of the water. The shelf of the Dagestan section of the western zone of the Caspian Sea is narrow, has an uneven surface with a system of asymmetric linearly extended ridges and elevations from the outcrops of bedrock. Analysis of the natural features of the water area and bottom sediments made it possible to suggest the optimal options for the use and placement of shielding devices - breakwaters - when designing two large seaports in the vicinity of the cities Derbent and Makhachkala.
